Some exceptions
The agreement states that there are some exceptions – primarily natural gas – for activities that can continue by 2025 at the latest.
The exceptions are bound by a number of stringent conditions, such as not delaying the transition to sustainable energy.
To maximize strategy, the government will work to encourage other countries to follow suit.
The news comes a few days after Denmark’s strategy of phasing out oil and gas in the North Sea in 2050 approached last week.
The Folketing has begun to consider a bill that means that Denmark will be the largest oil and gas producer in the world to end an end date for its fossil fuel era.
