Glasgow will see several protests over the weekend as the climate summit continues

Glasgow [UK]November 5 (ANI / Sputnik): The organizers of the UN Climate Conference (COP26) warned participants of several environmental protests planned for Friday and Saturday in Glasgow, which will host the event.

Friday, November 5: To coincide with Youth and Public Empowerment Day, an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 people are expected to leave Kelvingrove Park at 11:30 a.m. and head to George Square in Glasgow city center. Saturday, November 6: Global Day of Action for Climate Justice – an estimated 50,000 people are expected to leave Kelvingrove Park at 12:30 and head to Glasgow Green “, reads the announcement from the organizers.

Also on Saturday, protests will take place at Glasgow Airport and another nine British airports, according to the organizers.

On Wednesday, climate change activists from Extinction Rebellion organized a demonstration in central Glasgow, and the Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg was reported to be present there as well.

The COP26 summit will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from Sunday to 12 November. The event aims to strengthen international efforts to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
