The bill proposes, among other things, that medical interventions may be initiated before death, but only if it cannot wait until the patient is dead. It must not cause more than minor pain or injury and must not hinder efforts for the donor’s own sake.

Gabriella was born with an unusual genetic disease. When she does an investigation later in life, it shows that she only has 40% kidney function, and after her second birth, the situation becomes acute and it ends with her brother Viktor donating one of his kidneys to her.

Guests in the program are Anna Forsberg, Europe’s only professor of transplant care, Lund University, Lisa Kirsebom, science journalist and author of the book “From death to life” and Linda Gyllström Krekula, operations manager at the Regional Donation Center Stockholm Gotland.
