The first case of the Norwegian version of the Delta virus was reported by the NIPH in late June, and since then it has reportedly spread across the country. Experts believe it is no more dangerous than the usual Delta virus, and current vaccines will not lose their effectiveness against it, NRK pointed out.
“We have no information that the vaccine is not working against this variant, there are no significant reasons for concern.” Karoline BragstadA senior NIPH researcher was quoted as saying.
The variant is internationally recognized as AY.63 and is marked “first seen in Norway,” the broadcaster said.
