At a news conference on Friday, the WHO chief said low-income countries are taking six times more COVID-19 boosters a day than base doses, the VOA said in a report.
Tedros also said countries with the highest vaccine coverage will “continue to store more vaccines,” while “low-income countries are still waiting” for vaccines, according to the U.S. International Broadcasting Corporation.
โThis is a scandal that must end now,โ Tedros said.
The COVAX vaccine distribution system could help alleviate vaccine differences, but it needs at least 550 million vaccinations to reach its goal of vaccinating 40 percent of each countryโs population by the end of the year, Tedros said.
