Tampere Arena gets a new sponsor

Tampere’s new 13,455-seat arena was sponsored by Nokia when the previous sponsor, Uros, ran into financial difficulties.

The exchange was revealed at a press conference with the mayor of Tampere on Friday morning Anna-Kaisa Itkonen (NCP) said it believes Nokia is a trusted brand in Finland and abroad.

The same cannot be said of Uros, who rose to the headlines this fall when creditors took legal action over unpaid bills.

According to Business Finland, the company had also concealed the information when applying for product development funding about a decade ago.

The new arena has not yet opened, but is designed to host matches at the 2022 World Hockey Championships.
