More vulnerable than most
Indonesia is the world’s fifth largest CO2 emitter and among the most active nations in the world in terms of coal consumption and exports.
But the country is also among the most vulnerable to climate change, and at COP26 it promised to become climate neutral by 2060 or earlier with the help of the international community.
The agreement includes Denmark providing expertise in areas such as energy conversion, waste management, circular economy, food and a new regular climate dialogue between the countries.
Other areas of increased co-operation include maritime security and anti-terrorism initiatives.
The new cooperation agreement, here in English, runs from 2021 to 2024.
