With almost ten months left until the election, the Social Democrats’ party leader Magdalena Andersson could finally be elected as the new Swedish Prime Minister. Already tomorrow, she will present her new government – this time without the Green Party.
Magdalena Andersson’s challenges
A whole series of new ministers must be appointed, and many observers believe that Mikael Damberg can take over the post of Minister of Finance. Aida Hadzialic, opposition regional councilor in Stockholm County, is also mentioned as a possible newcomer to the government. But no matter what the new government looks like, it will be historically weak. Not since 1978 has a government had so few seats in the Riksdag with it.
