Temperatures in the southern parts of the country were still almost 20 degrees below freezing on Tuesday.
On Friday, mercury is forecast to move between -5 ° C and -10 ° C in the western part of the country and between -10 ° C and -15 ° C in Lapland. The next day, a warmer mass of air arrives in the country, producing snow and icy rain and potentially making road conditions challenging for motorists.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute expects to be significantly warmer next week than this week. Siiskonen told the news agency that temperatures could rise above freezing in southern Lapland as well.
