A DR headline reports that 40.5 percent of all corona infections come without symptoms – in that sense, it’s a bad thing.
This is of course bad news for the daily infection rate, which again saw a new record yesterday afternoon, with 8,377 cases confirmed within the previous 24 hours.
But the whole point of getting vaccinated and getting a booster is to make sure we donโt get sick. A third plug, according to studies, will reduce the chances of you experiencing symptoms from 50 to 25 percent.
DR’s headline confirms that corona makes fewer sick. And besides, it’s the result of a Chinese study based on the whole corona outbreak, and we’re always known that many young people are not affected at all.
Omicron is gaining momentum
Analysis from South Africa and the UK already indicates that the Omicron variant, which is gaining momentum in Denmark with 1,512 fresh cases yesterday to bring the total number to 6,047, is not as deadly as the Delta strain.
But it is certainly more contagious, and the authorities are eager to stop it spreading rapidly across the nation. The truth is, though, that this battle is probably already lost.
Experts tell DR that more restrictions are needed before Christmas, but none of them have many good proposals – banning alcohol sales in public, as in Norway, is a possible proposal along with the reintroduction of collection limits.
And let’s not forget that the government has already taken decisive action this past weekend, paving the way for all over 40s to get a third plug before the end of the year.
Hospital admissions continue to grow
Perhaps more critical than the daily infection rate is the number of admissions and it continues to grow.
The current figure of 508 is the highest since February, but it is still far from the top of 4. January of 964 and the number of 900, which puts the health care system under unbearable strain.
Much like Fagin, the Epidemic Commission is reviewing the situation, and several restrictions may be imminent.
However, there is a danger that the country will get the underpants in a turn for no good reason about the high infection rate.
After all, Denmark has one of the largest testing capacities in the world, testing 10-20 times more people (per capita) than most other countries.
