These schools operating in an international environment follow locally tailored and approved curricula based on the Finnish National Basic Curriculum (2014). These schools, which follow the Finnish educational model, differ in many respects from Finnish schools operating abroad.
FINEEC has now developed an audit model for international schools in accordance with the Finnish education model. The inspections ensure that the principles related to the operation of these schools and the organization of teaching are really in line with the characteristics of Finnish schools. After the audit, the school receives a quality label that is valid for four years.
The FINEEC audit model and related audit criteria will first be piloted in one school. After the pilot audit, the audit model will also be available to other schools.
– It is very important that auditing provides support to schools in achieving their teaching goals and guiding future development activities. FINEEC also wants to create the conditions for the continuous development of the activities of international schools, says the Senior Evaluation Advisor Chris Silverström.
Audits are performed in accordance with the principles of efficiency-based evaluation. This means that FINEEC’s audit team helps schools identify strengths, good practices and development needs. After the audit, the training provider will receive a quality label valid for four years.
The criteria of the audit model are related to the learning environment, personnel, teaching groups, basic principles of school culture, teaching practices and school management, where special attention is paid to the development of Finnish characteristics. Based on the criteria, four assessment areas have been formed.
FINEEC conducts international audits as paid evaluation services.
