Author and journalist Mustafa Can was twice awarded for his first Summer Program where he talked about his love for his mother. A theme that recurred in the critically acclaimed book “Close to the Days”.
Mustafa Can has published many acclaimed literary reports in major Nordic newspapers and magazines, on everything from politics and poetry to the wars in Iraq and Syria.
About his Winter program, he says:
– Based on a death threat in the only public photograph of my daughter and me, I wonder why our time is so marked by fear and suspicion. So obsessed with culture and identity. And why I get so fatly provoked by – not the hatred and death threats – but by special writings, which seem to be a sign for many of the patriotic friends who care about writing to me.
