Porvoo police shooters, the prosecutor drops the complaint's efforts;  Sentences of 15 years are valid

The long prison sentences of two Swedish brothers convicted of being shot by police in 2019 are still in force because the accused and the prosecutor withdrew their application to the Helsinki Court of Appeal.

Richard Granholm and his brother Raymond GranholmFinns with a Finnish background were each sentenced to 15 years in prison in November 2020 for shooting police and many other crimes in Porvoo in July of the previous year.

After the shooting in Porvoo, a series of violent events continued in the southern part of Tampere, where two men fired several shots at the police during a rapid chase. Three police cars were damaged, but no injuries were reported.

The Court of Appeal was scheduled to begin proceedings next Tuesday, January 11, but the proceedings were canceled due to withdrawals of applications.

Raymond Granholm, 20, was convicted of aggravated robbery, three aggravated assaults, nine attempted murder and eight perils.

His 30-year-old brother Richard was convicted of aggravated robbery, 11 attempted murder, two aggravated assault attempts and eight dangers.
