There will be no easing of the current coronary restrictions, it sounded yesterday after a meeting between Health Minister Magnus Heunicke with the political parties’ health rapporteurs – a day when a record 28,283 infected were announced.
Nevertheless, the Ministry of Health is making some changes regarding the corona passport, which will in future only be valid for five months after someone has either contracted the virus or received both of their vaccination sticks.
No decision has been made on how long a passport will last for those who have received their booster. As of yesterday, half of the population has received their third jab, Heunicke confirmed yesterday.
Higher numbers are expected
According to the Statens Serum Institut, which remains optimistic that the current escalation in fresh cases will peak by the end of the month, the daily figures could reach 55,000 by mid-January.
As things stand, many of the restrictions – including, for example, access to cinemas and theaters – are set to expire on 16 January.
The Epidemic Commission, whose advice the government usually follows, said yesterday that the current restrictions are necessary to ensure that the health system is not overwhelmed by hospitalizations – especially after the reopening of schools yesterday.
PM: “Better than feared”
There are now 784 inpatients, of whom 80 are on intensive care and 49 on respirator.
Of the 28,283 people infected yesterday, 2,083 were re-infections. About 12.2 percent of all tests performed were positive, and a further 15 people died from corona.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen told Instagram yesterday that the current situation is “better than feared”.
“We have to handle the situation with ingenuity and overview. Fortunately, we are working on it, โshe swore.
