Helsinki police are trying to catch a reindeer roaming the wooded area of Hämeenlinnanväylä in the Hague area of the capital.
"It has apparently been identified as a bona fide reindeer, which probably means it is someone’s pet," said Lili Schatz, communications specialist from the Helsinki Police.
Police urged motorists on Twitter to be careful in the area.
The Helsinki police are also trying to find out the owner of the reindeer, as it intends to return the animal to its owner and will not stop.
"We seem to be dealing with a pretty tame guy," Schatz said.
In a Facebook group for Haagians, many reported reindeer sightings and the incident caused a lot of confusion.
About a year ago, a young male reindeer escaped from Nuuksio Reindeer Park. The reason was believed to be the pursuit of female reindeer in the heat.
This time, however, the reindeer park said that the reindeer currently on the road across Helsinki are not theirs.
