Anthony Bourdain (1956-2018) is the chef, author and host who, according to Barack Obama, “made us all a little less afraid of the unknown”.
During his early career, he is plagued for long periods with both alcohol problems and heavy drug abuse, but when he publishes the book “Kitchen Confidential” at the age of 44, his life changes forever.
The unvarnished depiction of New York’s restaurant world is becoming an international bestseller, and in the media Anthony Bourdain is branded as a “culinary badboy”.
Success leads to that Anthony Bourdain gets his own TV show, where he travels the world and discovers the world through food, drink and meetings with other people. Over time, he develops a distinctive appeal and a social pathos that will make him popular far beyond the borders of his homeland.
During the 10’s it completely rains awards over Anthony Bourdain and his CNN series “Parts Unknown”. But there will not be more than 8 seasons.
In the summer of 2018, Anthony Bourdain is found dead in his hotel room in France. By all accounts, he has taken his own life. He leaves behind his 11-year-old daughter, Ariane – and fans and friends in shock.
