Candidates for basic Finnish council elections are most likely to have a criminal record analysis Helsingin Sanomat showed that in this year’s elections, candidates from all parties are less likely to have a criminal past than in last year’s municipal elections as a candidate.
About 6.3 per cent of the candidates with the basic Finnish flag had been charged with a crime in 2016–2021.
The figure is higher than in other parliamentary parties in this election, but less than 8.2 per cent of the party’s 2021 municipal election candidates had a criminal background.
The Left Alliance was second, and three percent of their candidates had recently come across the law. That is 4.1 percent less than last year’s municipal elections.
The Swedish People’s Party had the fewest candidates with a criminal background.
