The NSA has commissioned six million homemade Covid rapid tests to be distributed to schools across the country.
The acquisition is based on a joint mandate issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Labor on Wednesday.
According to the mandate, the acquisition cost of the tests should not exceed EUR 10 million, including logistics. The Finnish government has already set aside an additional budget to cover the purchase and delivery costs of the tests.
The agency said in a press release on Thursday that the first test batches will be distributed to municipalities in about three weeks and additional batches will be delivered in the coming weeks.
Risks associated with obtaining rapid tests include problems with product availability, delivery times, and logistics.
