According to the Swedish Public Health Agency’s recommendations, schoolchildren, those in elderly care and medical care and anyone who needs to be on site at work and who develops symptoms of covid-19, should be tested with PCR tests. So everyone else can test themselves with quick tests.
But antigen tests work differently with the omicron variant compared to previous variants, research shows. And the rapid tests can give positive results several weeks after the symptoms of covid-19 have subsided. Something that can make it for hugged travelers, and also Olympic participants in China.
Participating are Magnus Evander, professor of virology at Umeå University and Ann-Katrine Pesola, specialist in clinical microbiology and virology at Skåne University Hospital.
