According to The Verge, the counseling will lead to Spotify’s COVID-19 center, which provides credible and up-to-date information about the pandemic.
To increase transparency in the handling of the issue, Spotify will publish its COVID-19 Content Policy and General Platform Rules publicly on its website.
Spotify says anyone who violates the rules can be removed from that content, and the accounts of repeat violators can be suspended or blocked.
According to The Verge, an internal memo revealed it Joe Roganthe user podcast did not “meet the removal threshold”.
In practice, Spotify prohibits content that claims “AIDS, COVID-19, cancer, or other serious life-threatening illnesses are scams or untrue.”
The platform also bans content that “intentionally encourages people to become infected with COVID-19 to build immunity,” and does not allow content that suggests vaccines are “designed to cause death.”
“You’ve had a lot of questions in recent days about our platform policies and the limits we’ve drawn to acceptable and not,” Spotify CEO Daniel Ek said in a blog post.
“We have had rules in place for several years, but we have not been transparent about the practices that govern our content more broadly … Based on feedback from recent weeks, it has become clear to me that we have a responsibility to make more balance and access to widely accepted medical and from the scientific communities that guide us through this unprecedented time, ”added the CEO of Spotify.
Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Nils Lofgren everyone’s music has been removed from the platform in protest of Rogan’s podcast, in which he has suggested, among other things, that healthy young people do not need COVID-19.
