Washington [US]February 5 (ANI): Streaming giant Netflix is in early talks about making a movie on “Tinder Swindler”, an eye-opening documentary about a notorious swindler who used the dating app to deceive several women.
According to Variety for Netflix in talks with producers about making a movie on the “Tinder Swindler” documentary. Sources said that the conversation is at an early stage and that the tone of a potential film is still being worked out.
‘The Tinder Swindler’ debuted on the streaming service only on Wednesday, and it has already cracked the platform’s top 10 lists in the US and UK.
Produced by “Three Identical Strangers” producers Raw TV, together with AGC Studios and Gaspin Media, the 114-minute documentary tells the story of Israeli fraudster Shimon Hayut, who tricked Scandinavian women into parting with hundreds of thousands of dollars by pretending to date Tinder to be Simon Leviev, son of the Israeli diamond magnate Lev Leviev.
The documentary, directed by Felicity Morris, interviews the women who were deceived by Hayut when they reveal his true identity with the help of journalists from the Norwegian newspaper VG, and puts him on trial.
Hayut, who was imprisoned in Israel in December 2019 on a 15-month prison sentence (of which he served just over five months), deceived his victims by associating with expensive dates and forming long-distance relationships with them. He then asked them to take out credits for him under their name to pay for what he claimed were extensive security needs.
Hayut, who currently resides in Israel, has more than 2,000,000 followers on social media.
According to Variety, Hayut shared an Instagram story on Friday indicating that he is ready to tell his version of the story.
