A breakthrough in the investigation of a 22-year-old woman’s disappearance in Aalborg on Sunday led to an address north of the city this morning, and they have subsequently charged two 36-year-old men with the murder of her.
While officers around 6 a.m. Sunday were reviewing video footage of Mia Skadhauge Stevn’s last known movements, officers were able to grab a license plate shortly before noon that quickly led them to the front door of one of the two men in custody.
The car that matched the number plate was subsequently found at one of the suspect’s addresses.
Lots of police work ahead
North Jutland Police are currently gathering evidence at their Vendsyssel homes, which are located in รstervrรฅ and Flauenskjold.
Not many other details have been revealed, but police have confirmed that Mia has not been found and that there is nothing to suggest that she knew any of the men.
โWe will be working at these two addresses for a long time to come. We have a large investigation ahead of us with technical investigations, interrogations and much more, โthe police say.
Court hearing tomorrow
In light of the murder charges, some may assume that Mia is dead, but there have been other cases where the police have quickly charged a suspect with murder to detain them: as in the case of Peter Madsen.
Clearly, police appealing to the public to hand over video footage of Mia getting into a dark-colored car has paid off.
The suspects are due to appear in court on Thursday at 11.00.
