The results showed that the overall level of support for the largest railway infrastructure project in the Baltics has increased slightly compared to previous years in all three Baltic countries. The largest support for the project is in Lithuania, where more than 70% of respondents share a positive attitude, followed by Latvia (66%) and Estonia (47%). Better connections to Europe and a more convenient way to travel
When asked about the main personal benefits of the project, a more comfortable and safer travel experience, increased opportunities to travel conveniently to neighboring countries, and improved accessibility were most often mentioned. In Latvia and Estonia, respondents are increasingly associating the construction of Rail Baltica with potential personal benefits compared to the previous year. The results also showed that the most frequently mentioned associations associated with the project are “fast travel mode”, “modern project” and “future project”.
At the same time, as the global project progresses to the construction phase in all three Baltic countries, residents want more information about the actual progress of the project and ongoing work, practical information about construction and related activities, and initiatives to reduce environmental impact, among other things.
“The support of society and critical stakeholders is very important for the success of this global mega-project, and we are pleased to see the general support for Rail Baltica growing.
