For the first time in its history, it will not be possible to sign up to compete in the St Patrick’s Day triple jump on the big day itself.
Instead, registration for Shamrock Love’s 3 Legged Charity Race 2022 will take place at the website of the event from 12.00 on 1 March due to the limited number allowed to attend.
There is only room for 100 couples to participate, the organizers have confirmed today – that is, 200 racers in total.
MobilePay essential
Registration prior to the race costs a minimum of 100 kroner per – there is no limit to how much each racer can donate – and must be performed with MobilePay. The number will be confirmed on March 1.
This can be problematic for anyone hoping to register from abroad, so do not be surprised if Stockholm Seamu, Dublin Dermot or Oslo Orla get you to help them.
Thanks to sponsor Guinness, the entire donation goes to charity.
Three charities again
This year, the race will again support three charities for children: Danish Hospital Clowns, Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice and CCAFO (Camdodian Children’s Advocacy Foundation Organization).
The race has supported the charities since 2012, 2015 and 2010 respectively and has collected 138,700, 86,700 and 164,700 kroner for them.
Since the start in 2001, the race has raised DKK 556,700 for charity.
Five pub pitstops
This year, the race begins at Kennedy’s Irish Bar at 14:00 and goes to The Shamrock Inn, Pub & Sport, The Globe and finally The Dubliner.
Racers are advised to go to Kennedy’s from around noon. 13:00 to pick up their 3LR packs and start practicing.
The main organizer is Siobhรกn Kelleher-Petersen, one of the three co-founders of the race, who is the sister of Globe quizmaster John Kelleher.
