The medium-term climate change policy plan describes the measures that will be taken in the distribution sector to achieve the EU’s emissions reduction target by 2030 and to achieve a carbon-neutral Finland target by 2035. transport, agriculture, building-specific heating, mobile machinery and waste management, and F-gas emissions. The climate and energy strategy, mainly for the emissions trading sector, and the climate plan for land use and forestry will be completed in the coming months.
Discussion on the basis of statements on the plan
In accordance with the decision of the Government’s last autumn budget session, the relevant research institutes (Climate Change Panel, Finnish Environment Institute, Natural Resources Agency, Finnish Meteorological Institute and VTT) have submitted their own assessments of climate change. Adequacy of the measures contained in the draft medium – term climate change plan. In addition, the Climate Change Policy Plan was distributed for comments from December to January, and 210 statements were received.
The discussion on the Climate Action Round Table will support the work of the Ministerial Working Group on Climate and Energy Policy on the whole climate action package.
The Climate Policy Roundtable brings together a wide range of stakeholders from different sectors of society. The purpose of the round table is to create a common understanding of how Finland can make a fair transition to a carbon-neutral society by 2035. The work of the round table supports the preparation and implementation of Finland’s national climate policy.
