Three died in a traffic accident in central Finland when a snowstorm covered Finland

Three people died and one was injured in an accident south of Jyväskylä on Tuesday when a snowstorm caused disruption in southern and central Finland.

The collision between a truck and a car occurred shortly after 8 a.m. and caused extensive disruption to traffic in the area.

Dangerous driving conditions were warned in Uusimaa and potentially dangerous driving conditions elsewhere in southern and central Finland.

Helsinki regional traffic also suffered disruptions, and tram and subway traffic was disrupted at least in the early afternoon.

The Finnish State Railways VR said that long – distance train traffic was disrupted and late, especially between Helsinki and Vaasa and Helsinki and Kuopio.

Monday’s snowfall had brought fresh cover to much of the country. The weather Institute said that Ilomantsi in North Karelia had the deepest snow cover at 112 centimeters, followed by Joensuu, Ristijärvi and Suomussalmi at 102 centimeters.

In Nurmes, there was 101 cents of snow on the ground, while in Kittilä, a meter of white stuff covers everything.

Further south, it was 92 cents even in Espoo and 90 cents in Pirkanmaa’s Juupajoki.
