Customs: EU sanctions hit Finnish companies

According to Customs, the EU’s sanctions against Russia may affect one quarter of a Finnish company doing business in Russia.

There are about 2,000 companies operating in Finland across the eastern border. A quarter of these operate in the areas subject to sanctions, Customs says.

The EU’s sanctions package targets the Russian banking sector and technology exports. Sanctions against the Russian economy include individuals, financial institutions and state-owned enterprises.

The Finnish government has said that sanctions are a price to pay.

Customs monitors Finland’s implementation of EU sanctions on Russia.
