New Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 Spied - Debut probably no later than 2022 end

The strange case of Husqvarna is inexplicable to say the least. While both offers under the Swedish brand Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 are quite sympathetic with a unique design and more than decent performance. Unfortunately, this has not translated into a significant sales volume.

This can mainly be attributed to the time of the company’s launch in India in early 2020 when the pandemic broke out. The company has also not expanded its portfolio during these two years with still only two models under its belt. Hopefully we will see a change when the new generation of models are planned to come out.

Brand new 2023 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 Spied

Speaking of the new generation of models, Husqvarna has already begun to develop the upcoming brand new models of naked street fighters. The first spy photos of what is probably the new generation Svartpilen 401 have been leaked on the internet. The test mule captured in cameras gives a clear look at an almost final version of Svartpilen’s successor.

The prototype of the brand new Black Arrow 401 shown in the pictures seems completely different from the one for the KTM 390 Duke. Until now, both bikes, as well as the White Arrow 401, have shared exactly the same surface. Some important styling elements in the current Svartpilen 401 have been retained in the upcoming model. These include an oversized round LED headlight with an integrated circular LED DRL and bevelled flat edges on the fuel tank.

While in the current model the tank flows straight into the seat, in the brand new model it gets a clear break in front of the subframe. At the rear, a conventional license plate holder replaces the older swingarm-mounted unit.

The most striking change, however, is a new abdominal exhaust that replaces the laterally swept canister in the current Svartpilen. The look of it, the design and padding of the seats in split style has also been updated.

Changes in data

The all-new Svartpilen 401 is also ready to undergo several changes under the skin as well. Husqvarna has used a trellis frame with the new model, but the design of the frame shown in the prototype differs from the current unit. It also gets a new stay swing arm that is similar to the one seen in E-Pilen’s concept prototype.

It also has a new split subframe at the rear, but its design is not as aggressive as the KTM equivalent. The front forks remain identical to the upside down forks from WP Apex.

But the rear has an offset mono-shock mounted on a newly designed swingarm. The front brake unit has been replaced on the right side, which indicates a change in the brake equipment even if it gets the same ByBre-ok.

Driveline update

When it finally comes to the engine compartment, the engine is obviously a single-cylinder unit but gets a new cover that creates a lot of mystery. Despite structural similarity, it does not seem to share any visible components with the current 373cc design. The exact capacity of this engine is still unknown, but a similar prototype engine has previously been discovered in the new generation KTM Duke test mule.
