Siege city
What exactly is Vladimir Putin’s strategy, why is he attacking so many civilian targets? One of the cities where many civilians were hit very hard by Russia’s war in Ukraine is the coastal city of Mariupol, which once had more than 400,000 inhabitants. The city is bombed day in and day out and is besieged by Russian forces. People have difficulty with food and water and the dead are sometimes left out on the street.
Laws of war
War is a lot about violence, but it is not out of order and there are what are called “Laws of War” or “humanitarian law”. That which should make the inhuman in war more civilized. At its core are the four Geneva Conventions of 1949, especially the fourth concerning the protection of civilians in war.
