Brussels [Belgium]March 21 (ANI / Sputnik): Thirteen warships from several NATO countries are on their way to Stockholm after military exercises, the newspaper Aftonbladet reports.
The warships include nine German ships and four ships from the Baltics that are on their way to the Port of Frihamnen after the exercise, the newspaper said on Sunday with reference to the Swedish military.
According to Aftonbladet, the shipping movement has nothing to do with the situation in Ukraine.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Sunday that member states are increasing their support for Ukraine.
At the end of last month, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine after the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk (DPR and LPR) appealed for help in defending themselves against the Kiev forces. Russia said that the purpose of its special operation was to demilitarize and “denazify” Ukraine and that only military infrastructure was targeted – the civilian population was not in danger. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that it has no plans to occupy Ukraine. (ANI / Sputnik)
