After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, about 10,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Finland almost a month ago, according to the Finnish Immigration Service.
On Monday, about 1,000 Ukrainians applied for temporary protection from Finland.
Migri said it is believed that the number of new real arrivals from Ukraine is much higher because many have not applied for asylum status along official routes. Ukrainians can come to Finland and stay there for a while three months, without a visa.
This week, a group of Ukrainian children started school in Tampere, where they learn the basics of the Finnish language.
The STT news agency said on Monday it had found evidence that the scammers were trying to attract Ukrainians to Finnish jobs which do not exist. International humanitarian groups have warned of human traffickers trying to exploit refugees from war-torn country for Ukrainian women and children.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has recently estimated that some 3.5 million people have fled Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion.
