By Janne KänkänenAccording to the CEO of the Security of Supply Center (Nesa), there may be a need for larger warehouses in Finland.
The CEO told Kauppalehti that the war of aggression in Russia in Ukraine could have far-reaching consequences for Finland’s security of supply and that the war would affect many different critical sectors.
According to Känkänen, although Finland’s security of supply systems are in good condition, including industrial co-operation, the Agency is currently taking various measures in response to the change in the country’s foreign and security policy.
During the 21st century, various changes were made to security of supply stocks. Storage targets for imported fuels and bread grains were lowered, and five months of fuel and six months of grain are now in stock. Känkänen says that in the current security environment, it may not be enough.
A report on Finland’s security of supply is currently being prepared.
