That way, Putin could be held accountable for war crimes

Butja and the wars in Chechnya

The body of Butja, a city just outside Kyiv, is reminiscent of what happened in the suburb of Novye Aldy in Grozny in February 2000, when more than 60 people were killed by Russian soldiers. The massacre was investigated by journalist Anna Politkovskaya, who published it in the Novaya Gazeta newspaper. She was later shot dead in her elevator in Moscow. Russia has been convicted many times in the European Court of Justice for crimes committed by Russian soldiers during the wars in Chechnya.
