EU transport ministers coordinate the EU's response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine in the transport sector

Ministers will discuss a coordinated EU response to Russia’s military attack on Ukraine in the transport sector. The aim of the meeting is to create a common EU-level picture of national measures taken or planned in the transport sector following the war in Ukraine and to find ways to strengthen EU coordination of these measures.

The meeting also aims to ensure the continuity of passenger and freight traffic between Ukraine and EU countries, to support transport operators, in particular workers, and to strengthen the sustainability of the European transport system.

No formal decisions will be made at the meeting.

Finland strongly condemns Russia’s military attack on Ukraine and is responsible for Russia’s actions as part of the EU. Finland also considers the comprehensive development of the EU’s crisis resilience to be of key importance in the transport sector. Sustainable digitalisation can also contribute to the resilience and reliability of society in the event of unexpected crises.
