With a major development of electric vehicle (EV) technologies in recent years, manufacturers are now aiming for the performance end of the segment in the field of electric mobility. Electric cars are known for their strong performance and more such battery-powered vehicles will be on the market in the near future.
In this respect, the Swedish electric motorcycle brand RGNT has updated two of its electric motorcycles under its SEL family (Sport Extended Limited) – Scrambler and Classic. The latest set of updates makes both electric bikes faster, richer in technology and more comfortable.
RGNT Scrambler, Classic-Updated Features
While Scrambler and Classic are identical under the skin, they differ in their respective styles and ergonomics. As a result of the updated functions, both motorcycles now have a new instrument panel that has been completely redesigned and reprogrammed.
Called the Human Machine Interface, RGNT claims that this new interface offers a better connection between drivers and their bikes, thanks to extensive personalization options. The electric bikes also get a new thumb-operated joystick. This function is located on the handlebars, which makes it easy to switch between different functions on the console, very convenient.
RGNT’s engineering team has also made some crucial changes to its connectivity app, which now offers real – time updates on charge status and remaining charge time, battery range and the motorcycle’s location on the rider’s smartphone. The console has been activated to receive regular updates over the air. Finally, a built-in sound generator warns pedestrians and other road users of the presence of the bicycle.
Driveline details & performance
In terms of performance, both Scrambler and Classic are now designed to offer better performance. Improvements have been made to the driveline and electric motor which have resulted in more efficient heat dissipation. Not only does it increase the life and reliability of the electric motor but it can also draw more power from the battery. This has resulted in an increase in nominal power from 8.5 kW to 9.5 kW.
The previous models came with two driving modes – Power and Range, both self-explanatory. In the latest iteration, both bikes are now offered an extra mode called Boost. In Boost mode, the motorcycle temporarily offers a peak power of +20 kW with a twist of the throttle. In addition, the updated bikes now come with a two-wheeled equivalent to the One-Pedal Drive.
This means closing the throttle and turning it in the opposite direction would activate the engine brake. Using this mode frequently, however, would cause the battery pack to discharge. Both bikes have a range of 150 km. Both electric motorcycles are offered a new quick charger that can be used on any standard wall socket. With this new setup offered, 0-100 percent charging takes about four hours while 20-80 percent takes three hours.
Prices
Other significant innovations from RGNT include a keyless start together with an integrated steering wheel lock. To maintain exclusivity, only 50 units of these bikes will be manufactured. With all the updates offered, both bikes do not come with a cheap price tag. While the Classic is priced at 14,495 Euros (approx. INR 12.0 lakh), the Scrambler is priced even higher at 15,495 Euros (approx. INR 14.10 lakh).
