APN podcast: No, Russia is not "transfer of equipment to the Finnish border"

Is Russia transferring munitions to the Finnish border? Last week’s headlines suggested that could happen, but the reality is quite different. The source was a video filmed in Russia and published on social media, but it didn’t show much.

Charly Salonius-PasternakA researcher at the Institute of International Affairs told the APN podcast that most of the troops usually close to Finland have fought in Ukraine.

"And on the basis of the various reports, it could be said that they have been destroyed or at least seriously deteriorated," said Salonius-Pasternak.

"Some have even been completely destroyed. So from the point of view of Finnish defense, it is obviously not a bad thing. And that is one of the reasons why, in principle, every Finnish military analyst or person who studies these issues says that Russia has almost no ability to carry out an operation against Finland, as we see in Ukraine."

We also talked Jochen Faugel About the problems of people who came to Finland with their partner from the City of Helsinki’s spouse program but are unemployed upon arrival.

That is the crucial question, according to Faugel.

"Many studies have shown that international workers choose to return to their home country if their spouses have difficulty integrating." said Faugel.

Although many employers want to attract professionals from abroad, they may see a large number of highly skilled workers here in Finland.

"One of the reasons why many are looking abroad is to find skilled people, but wait a moment and understand that there are also a lot of qualified people here in Finland that you can hire." he explained.

The podcast also includes a summary of the week’s top stories, your questions from the last two weeks, and a company to find out if Finnish nurses really plan to resign as they try to get a pay raise.
