New Delhi [India]April 21 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the seventh edition of the Raisina dialogue on April 25, Foreign Ministry (MEA) spokeswoman Arindam Bagchi said during the MEA’s weekly meeting on Thursday.
The dialogue, which will take place over three days from 25 April to 27 April, will witness the participation of EU Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen as the main guest.
The Raisina Dialogue 2022, based on the theme “Terranova- passionate, impatient, imperilled”, will be modeled on six thematic pillars – Rethinking Democracy: trade, technology and ideology; The end of multilateralism: a networked global order; Water bodies: turbulent tides in the Indo-Pacific region; Communities Inc: first responders to health, development and the planet; Achieving green transitions: common imperative, divergent reality; Samson vs. Goliath: the persistent and relentless wars of technology.
Launched in 2016, Raisina Dialogue is India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, committed to addressing the most challenging issues facing the global community. The conference is organized by MEA in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
The dialogue, which was held practically last year due to the covid-19 pandemic, will be held in personal format this year, Bagchi informed.
“Raisina Dialogue 2022 will have about 100 sessions with over 210 speakers from 90 countries. Side events will be held in Berlin and Washington. Raisina’s youth program will also be held alongside this main conference,” said Bagchi.
The MEA spokesman further said that the conference will most likely be attended by Sweden’s former Prime Minister Carl Bildt, Canada’s former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Maldives’ former president Mohamed Nasheed and Australia’s former prime minister Anthony Abbott.
“We will also expect a pre-recorded announcement from the President of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid,” Bagchi added.
Regarding the participation of the Foreign Ministers, the MEA spokesperson informed that the Foreign Ministers of Argentina, Armenia, Guyana, Nigeria, Norway, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madagascar, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal and Slovenia will be present at the event. He further said that the Australian foreigner may also join the conference practically.
Bagchi said that during his visit to India, the foreign ministers will also have official contacts with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. (ANI)
