About Lena Hallin
Lena Hallin is head of Sweden’s military intelligence and security service (Must) and has had a straight career towards the top. She was born in Gothenburg and the year was 1980 when she was part of the first cohort of women who were allowed to do military service. She graduated as an officer at the War Flight School in 1983 and was appointed ensign in the Jämtland air flotilla the same year. There she was then promoted to lieutenant and on to major before she became Sweden’s first female platoon leader.
In the years 2011–2013, she was defense attaché at the embassy in London and after that she was appointed brigadier general. In connection with her taking over as head of Must in 2018, she was, as the first woman ever, given the title of Major General.
