According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Danish citizen has died in northern Iraq.
While the ministry is unable to release further details due to confidentiality obligations, Kurdish media have reported that the tragedy involves a young man on a bike ride with his friend.
Kurdistan 24 and Rudaw reported that the two men were cycling on an unpaved road in Kurdistan when they were hit by a roadside bomb.
His friend called for an ambulance, but the man’s life could not be saved.
The two were reportedly on their way to Baghdad when they decided to take a gravel road that locals are avoiding due to mines in the area.
