In the Stockholm area, the number of people who have tried to quit crime has increased sharply in recent years. Since the Stockholm Police changed their defector activities, it has gone from 26 ongoing cases in 2020 to 130 according to the latest survey in April this year.
Then there are people who leave without the help of authorities or organizations. We’ve met one of them. We have chosen to call him “Markus”. He is in his 30s and some time ago he left a criminal context where he was involved in distributing doping substances and drugs.
“Markus” came to a crossroads where he had to choose whether to go deeper into a potentially very violent conflict or leave the criminal context he was part of. In this week’s P3 Krim, “Markus” tells his story.
* Markus is called something else.
