Athletics: Several Olympic champions heading to the Doha Diamond League

[]May 12 (): The Doha League, made up of several Olympic champions, is ready to start on May 13 here at Qatar Club. Diamond League is athletics’ most prestigious series that is in the top tier of Athletics -day meet competitions. The Diamond League 2022 consists of 13 meetings, starting with the Doha event leading up to the two-day Diamond League final in Zurich on September 7 and September 8. It includes 32 Diamond Disciplines, according to a model of championship style. Athletes earn points at the meetings to qualify for the finals in their discipline. At each league meeting, athletes are awarded 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 point for placement 1st to 8th respectively. The top 6 in the field competitions, the top eight for the 100m-800m and the top 10 for the 1500m and long distances qualify for the final. The winner of each Diamond Discipline in the final will be the “Diamond League Champion” and will be awarded an iconic Diamond Trophy and a wild card for the World Athletics Championships.

The Diamond League will be broadcast live on Sports 18 as well as on Voot in until 2024. The Doha meeting will see many Olympic champions carry out their mission at Qatar Sports Club, including the Swedish pole vault star Mondo Duplantis, the Canadian 200m champion Andre De Grasse , joint high jump champion Gianmarco Tamberi from and homemade hero Mutaz Barshim from Qatar.
