The Finnish Immigration Service Migri has told a video on the TikTok social media platform that a woman is calling on Ukrainians fleeing their country "ungrateful" is disinformation.
In a video that has since been removed, a woman who claims to be a nurse at a reception center in the city of Yuan in eastern Finland tells of her obvious experiences of working with Ukrainian families who have arrived in Finland since the Russian invasion. from their home country.
The video was severely criticized on social media for the woman’s Ukrainian comments.
Henri TanskanenThe mayor of Juuka told Yle that he watched the video after he was contacted by city council members for reference to the city. He also said that he had received a call from the Finnish Immigration Service.
"I saw that there is confusion here. This person claims to be in the Juua reception center, but there is no reception center in Juuka," Tanskanen said.
Klaus KaartinenThe director of communications from the Finnish Immigration Service confirmed that he had talked to Tanskanen on Tuesday after seeing the video on Twitter.
"The video contains disinformation as there is no reception center in Juuka. But since there are individual hosts, we wanted to make sure no one could misunderstand that such a center exists." Kaartinen told Yle.
Mayor: An unknown person appears in the video
Kaartinen told Yle that he was not surprised by the false information spreading on social media, but stated that the discussion on social media as a whole has been calm.
"Immigration issues are always a hot topic on social media. You can’t get over it and you can’t get around it. Now more than 20,000 Ukrainians have come to Finland in a short time and Russia is at war, such things are not surprising," Kaartinen explained.
He also did not comment on whether the video could be considered a hybrid influencer.
"One has to be careful if not all things are known. These are not accusations that can only be guessed at," Guard said.
Tanskanen said she had contacted Juukka’s volunteer director, and according to volunteers working in the city, the woman in the video was unfamiliar to them.
"Of course, I am concerned that there are such people at all. Perhaps it is this modern time that is attracting attention in various ways on social media," Tanskanen added.
Danskanen considered it likely that this would continue to happen. The video might have spread, but it stopped quickly, he pointed out.
"Then the video was removed, so I guess it didn’t have much time to collect steam," Tanskanen said.
