Still going strong since the founding in 2005 of choreographer Tina Tarpgaard, who is still responsible today, the dance community in Copenhagen looks to the Recoil Performance Group to set the standards.

Its choice of work reflects a group that is not afraid to address the big issues, and this time it is the force that affects us all, and pretty much everything else in the universe: Gravity!

Act of Gravity has been developed in collaboration with Science & Cocktails, a series of lectures that have recently become so popular that they have moved to the Concert Hall to satisfy demand.

From 9.-18. June, Science & Cocktails has recruited four distinguished academics to deliver their scientific expertise in a series of, of course, well-oiled, lectures – a fitting reflection on a dance performance that crosses the line between art and science.

You’ve probably seen pictures from Caregiver’s Death on posters around town, or the videos online as the first part of the Uppercut Dance Theater trilogy was warmly received by both critics and audiences.

And you remember them without a doubt: striking dancers, bathed in brilliant crimson color, who take turns wearing a pig’s head. The title ‘Samba’ is taken from the dance, where everyone focuses on.

In the second part, ‘Limbo’, it is the outsider’s turn: primarily to build a bridge between the abandonment of the first and the fulfillment of the third part.

Our inner pig must break free from the stronghold of uncertainty, overcome the abyss of doubt and embrace the zenith of transition. Six-star reviews from CPH and Sceneblog suggest that Nursing is alive!
