A Runestone cowboy
The Greek fourth seed threatened a comeback after being down 5-2 in the fourth set, returning to 5-4 and having three breakpoints to equalize the set.
But Rune held his nerves and served the historic result – and he did so at Court Philippe-Chatrier, the honored center court of Roland Garros, Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Rune had already turned his head with his Cinderella race, which has seen him flame into the round of 16 without losing a set himself.
World number 15, Denis Shapolvalov, was among those quickly sent off on the road.
The next will be a rare (at least these days) all Nordic showdown in the quarterfinals, as Rune takes on Norwegian Casper Ruud in what looks to be Wednesday.
Ruud, who is number eight in the world, has beaten Rune twice recently – even though it was a close affair in the last match.
Ruud is the first Norwegian to ever reach the last eight in tournament history, so the match will see a historic winner no matter what happens.
