Ulf Kristersson (M) does not want to get involved in how the government handles the negotiations on a Swedish NATO membership: “I do not intend to discuss publicly how the talks go or should go,” says Kristersson in Ekot’s Saturday interview.
M, like the other parliamentary parties, has previously demanded that the EU impose an arms embargo on Turkey. This week, MEPs in the European Parliament voted against such a proposal.
Does this not indicate an adjustment in foreign policy? “Foreign policy must always benefit Swedish interests and right now it is a vital interest that we become members of NATO,” says Kristersson.
