Minister of Defense of Finland Antti Kaikkonen (Cen) will attend a dinner meeting of NATO defense ministers on Wednesday night in Brussels, the defense ministry said Tuesday.
The planned topics of discussion are Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the effects of the conflict on the security situation in Europe.
In addition to the ministers of Kaikkonen and NATO’s 30 member states, defense ministers from Sweden, Georgia and Ukraine will attend the meeting. The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrellhas also been invited to dinner.
"I look forward to an important and serious debate on the security situation in Europe"Kaikkonen said in a statement from the ministry that the minister was also scheduled to attend a meeting of the US-hosted Defense Contact Group at Ukraine at NATO headquarters.
The meeting will discuss the situation in Ukraine and the support provided to the country. According to the ministry, the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group includes members from 40 countries who coordinate military aid deliveries to Ukraine.
Kaikkonen is also scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings in Brussels, including with the Ukrainian Minister of Defense. Oleksii Reznikovthe ministry said.
