Employment continued to rise in May

According to Statistics , the employment rate rose and continued to fall in May. Employment rose by 73.9 per and unemployment fell to 6.1 per cent.

Earlier in February this year, the employment rate rose to 74 percent, a record high. In February, however, unemployment was 6.8 per cent.

According to the Number , there were 61,000 more people employed than in May last year. The change in unemployment from May this year to last year was 68,000 people.

Economist Juho Keskinen The credit institution Hypo pointed out that the unemployment rate has now fallen as low as it was in March-April 2008. He added that the unemployment rate was last lower in May 1991.
