Pfizer’s oral Covid-19 antiviral drug Paxlovid will be introduced this week in the hospital district of Southwest Finland.
It can be given to people at risk and can only be prescribed after a positive Covid test.
According to the district, treatment should be started within five days of the onset of Covid symptoms.
The medicine will only be available through hospital pharmacies.
The medicine is distributed to the emergency department of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland and to hospitals in Salo, Vakka-Suomi and Loimaa. The medicine is also sent to Pori Central Hospitals in Satakunta, Vaasa in Ostrobothnia and Mariehamn in Åland.
