The 990 responses collected to the survey show that people’s expectations for themselves and the national economy in the next 12 months were very pessimistic, first more than ever since 1995. The respondents also assessed their own current economic situation clearly pessimistically.
Consumers also found the time to buy durable goods to be the cheapest ever.
The public’s expectations for inflation over the next 12 months were as high as ever, with respondents estimating that consumers have risen 6.6 percent over the past year and will rise another 6.3 percent next year.
However, Finnish consumers estimate that their own financial situation will remain good and that the threat of layoffs or layoffs has remained relatively low.
The answers were collected from 1 to 15 June.
According to EK, the Confederation of Finnish Business, business confidence continued to decline in June. Manager Sami Pakarinen revealed that last month was already the fourth consecutive month of declining business confidence, as services were the only sector where confidence crept up slightly.
However, the service providers estimate that their overall situation has weakened even more in recent months, despite the increase in sales volumes.
“The decline in trust now happens in a completely different way than during the pandemic, when services collapsed all at once. Now let’s go in a more traditional and calmer way with the construction management”, said Buttock.
