The Basic Finns government has resigned Piia Kattelus-Kilpeläinen — Second vice-chairman of the Seinäjoki city council — as a member of the party.
The South Ostrobothnia local branch of the party was previously ready to nominate Kattelus-Kilepeläinen as a member of parliament, but the broader national party did not accept the candidate.
According to the party, the reason for the resignation was related to the earlier appointment decision and its characterization as an activity against the party.
A couple of years ago, a picture was published in which Kattelus-Kilepeläinen was wearing black and blue clothes that supported the Lapua movement – a fascist political movement between the wars. He had also shown his support to the fragmented group of the Basic Finns blue black– or blue-black – the colors of fascist support in Finland.
The story continues after the picture.
Radical and ultranationalist Blue black registered party in June after receiving the required 5,000 signatures.
Kattelus-Kilpeläinen was the vote leader of his party in Seinäjoki and South Ostrobothnia in last year’s municipal elections and in this year’s provincial elections, where he received 1,300 votes.
Kattelus-Kilepeläinen also works as a representative in the welfare service province of Southern Ostrobothnia.
